Reimagining the taste of Authentic Flavors of Indo-Chinese Food, How GingerFresh is Redefining Food Experiences

Our History

How it started!

In the lively streets of Calgary, GingerFresh Indo-Chinese came to life in 2022, born out of a love for bold flavors and the magic of cultural fusion. It all started with a family missing the familiar tastes of home—Indian street food and the rich, savory goodness of Chinese Hakka dishes.

What started as a tiny takeout corner soon became the talk of the town. Word spread fast about their signature dishes and sauces like Authentic Schezwan sauce, In-House made Paneer, and perfectly spiced hakka noodles. Every dish was made with real, fresh ingredients and a whole lot of heart. It wasn’t long before customers couldn’t get enough of the flavors that reminded them of home.

But it wasn’t all smooth sailing. From perfecting recipes to finding the best ingredients, there were plenty of bumps along the way. Still, the team’s passion for serving authentic, mouthwatering food never faded.

Now, GingerFresh isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a cozy spot where people come together to eat, laugh, and share stories. The taste here connects you back to your home country, filling your heart—and stomach—with happiness.

FACTS

The Schezwan sauce at GingerFresh Indo-Chinese is something special! It’s actually India’s own twist on the famous Chinese Sichuan peppercorns. These peppercorns, which come from the beautiful Sichuan region in China, are a big part of Chinese cooking. They add that amazing taste and unique flavor that makes every dish unforgettable.

HISTORY

Indian Chinese food has a unique story that goes back to Chinese immigrants who made their home in the lively city of Calcutta, India. It’s said they brought their love for Chinese food and mixed it with Indian flavors, creating something totally new. This is what we call ‘Chinese Whispers,’ a street food culture born right in the heart of India. People still love this amazing mix of Indian spices and Chinese dishes, and the craving for it just keeps growing over time!
